Coffee
Morning at Roger and Beulah's 17th
July 2010
It was a blustery day, even the rain clouds
threatened but Roger and Beulah coffee
morning went ahead with fingers crossed that
we would be spared the soaking Worthing had
received just a few miles away, and as luck
would have it, we did.
During the week Beulah along with Roger and
Karen had prepared the stalls, the layouts,
the raffles, brick-a-brack etc in addition
they had put adverts in the local shop, put
a placard in front of their house, and had
poked leaflets in all the houses in the
area.
The day before I collected 80 home made
cakes that Clare Colfer had donated, hmm yum
yum and on the day Barbara had her craft and
card stall, I ran the tombola, my sister in
law Clare was in charge of the brick-a-brack,
Elaine and Betty on teas and biscuits, Carol
Sarah and Joyce on the raffle and Ann and
Jean on the cake stall. So 10am came and
although they weren't queuing down the
street, a steady flow of people joined us to
make this a very pleasant coffee morning
indeed. Many new faces this year, and a
number of polio members came along as well, so
that was good.
At the end of a very successful morning we
had raised just under £350 for the branch,
and it’s a big thank you for all that came
along to the event, and many thanks to Roger
and Beulah for hosting the coffee morning. |
