I am not normally a gadget man, but there is one gadget I have
recently found, as I'm sure a lot of you have as well, that is very
useful indeed and has certainly made my life a lot easier. What is
it? Well it’s a tin opener. Yes a tin opener, but this one is
slightly different, called the “one touch” it sits on top of the
can, and with one push of the button it waddles around the tin
taking the top off as it goes. Now I know we all have tin openers of
one sort or another, and half the tins these days come with ring
pulls, but sometimes ring pulls can be more trouble than their
worth, especially when your hands are getting weaker and a gadget
like this can work wonders as it will work over the top of the ring
pull to take the lid off complete, simple. These devices are
available on ebay for about £6 including p&p or from your local high
street -- Dyas have them for about £12.

I am not normally a gadget man, but
there is one gadget I have recently found, and I am sure a lot of
you have as well, that is very useful indeed and has certainly made
my life a lot easier.
What is it? Well it’s a remote control plug socket set.
And what does it do, well quite simply it lets you turn on and off a
number of your electrical sockets with a remote control similar to
the TV remote.
And how does it work? Very simply in fact, you plug your existing
plug from say your table light into the socket of the unit, and plug
that straight into the mains socket, and that’s it, you can remotely
control lights, TV, or anything else you may have connected, they
are sold in packets of one, two or three, and we have a pack of
three, that are connected to the table lights in the front room.
Normally these lights are a pain to switch on as they are in awkward
corners, but they are now just a couple of clicks away. The price of
these units varies but expect to pay around £25 for a pack of three.
